The Rotary Club of Fort Erie (RFE for short) has once again handed out cheques to
various worthwhile charities and organizations from its fundraiser events with monies coming
from the good people of Fort Erie and Port Colborne.
On June 11th, 2022, Mayor Redekop and Niagara Regional councilor Insinna was present for the event
held at St. Andrew Knox’s Presbyterian Church’s grassy lot.
Leaders/Administers/Chairs of the following Charities and Organizations were at hand to
receive $1500 cheques.
Salvation Army in Fort Erie helps the community with their programs in Food Bank, Utility
Help, Tax Help, and Emergency Disaster Services.
South Niagara Life Ministries helps resolve Life Crises, Issues, and Problems.
Meals on Wheels help vulnerable seniors and people with disabilities stay healthy at home
with nutritious meals delivered to their door.
Matthew House provides refugee claimnants, broken families and homeless people with emergency
shelter and transitional housing.
Army Cadets Fort Erie develops Leadership and Community Service, Physical Fitness, and
Training Activities for youths.
RFE also donated a cheque of $500 to St. Andrew Knox’s Presbyterian Church. The event
was then followed by a small BBQ of hotdogs. It was a time for all to interact and catch up
on events and such. A relaxed time for people to meet each other. We had hoped to have
the neighbors walking by to join us for a free hotdog.
Rotary Clubs all over Canada works on a fiscal year of July 1st. We raise funds in a fiscal
year and donate 95% of funds in the following year. In early June, RFE donated $3000 to
support 6 Little League Baseball teams with T-shirt, Baseball bats and gloves, caps and even
a Baseball Clinic.
End of June, RFE will give 5 scholarships to students in the Fort Erie and Port Colborne
area. A $500 scholarship will go to a Culinary Student as students have helped with supplying
food for Rotary’s TV Auctions in the past. A $500 scholarship will go to a Drama student as
students recently helped with the Rotary Polio Zombie Invasion (RotZi). And finally, 3 $1000
scholarships will go to 3 deserving students in general.
We would like to thank Revel and Mrs. O’s Pharmacy for supporting the RotZi scholarship. We like
to thank Kathy and Dave of Royal Lepage for supporting the Little League Baseball teams.
Thanks go out to Canalside Restaurant & Inn, Wines with a Twist, DaVinci’s Pizza, M&J’s Restaurant,
Smokin’ Buddha, Garrison Muffler, Mrs. O’s Pharmacy, 335 on the Ridge, The Bistro, Revel, Zeintein,
and Boggio&Edwards for supporting our Buck Off t-shirt event.
But most of all, we want to thank the public. Without your support, we could not hand out a
whopping $15000 to the community. (Note: It’s whopping for our tiny club.)
Maybe it is your efforts that keep youth vandalism down, maybe keep people from living in tents,
and definitely keeping people from hunger. Thank you Public.
