On Aug.27, a short ceremony was held to officially open the pedestrian and bicycle lane on the newly renovated Peace Bridge connecting Canada and USA.

This project promotes a healthier environment by connecting the biking and hiking paths as well as connecting people across the border of the Niagara River.

Dignitaries from both sides were there to celebrate the opening, including USA Congressman Higgins who noted that this was the opposite of "building walls". Representatives from Niagara area Rotary Clubs on both sides of the River also connected with the Ontario's Niagara Parks Commission and Niagara River Greenbelt Trail association.

YOUTH SERVICE

This year, the Rotary Club of Fort Erie sponsored the Rookie League of Fort Erie Minor Baseball.
On August 20th the championship game occurred and Rotary President Scott Broda presented the Trophy to the Purple team.

Hats off to the volunteer coaches, umpires and directors who understand the Rotary mottos:
“We profit most who serve best”
“Service above self”
There were at least 3 generations of coaches watching, cheering and teaching good sportsmanship - a lesson we all carry for life from the generations who served us when we were young.
